  • "On the Field of Faith"- Motoki's Story

Motoki was born and raised in a broken non-Christian family. In the 4th grade, a security guard caught him stealing and he felt so ashamed. He struggled with guilt for years until he heard the Gospel. When he entered high school, he became good friends with a classmate who was the only Christian in the school. His friend invited him to church several times, and that's when he was introduced to the Bible. He went to the Spring Bible Camp in Tokyo and accepted Jesus as his Savior, freeing him from his guilt and shame.

In 2004, while Motoki was asking God for guidance on the next step, God appeared to him in a dream and promised to guide him. A few weeks after the dream, Motoki went to a basketball court with his Christian friends. He never expected that there could be a ministry in the sports field because there are few Christian sports fellowships in Japan. But over time, God kept showing him the vision to reach out to Japanese Christian athletes and equip them to share the Gospel. He started the Hoop Basketball ministry and God used this experience to step up to serve top athletes. Now he has been in the sports ministry field for 20 years, serving coaches and athletes to change the world through the impact of Christ.
