  • "Walk in it"- Jojo's story

Jojo always had loved basketball. He coached high school, collegiate and professional basketball, but his dream job was to coach at his alma mater where he played high school and college varsity basketball. He applied to coach at his alma mater in 2003, in 2008, and in 2014. He was turned down every single time, one of the time, even someone who hadn’t been coaching in 20years got the job. Two years before that third strike against him, he had written to coach Tony Bennett of the University of Virginia regarding their offense and defense, and Tony’s assistant sent Jojo a package that included Dan Britton’s book, “Wisdom Walks.” This was the first time he heard of FCA, and it paved him the way for him to join FCA full-time as an Area Director for Metro Manila in 2014. A few months later into his FCA ministry, he received a call from the second-largest collegiate league in the country, he politely declined. A week later, another offer from a prestigious collegiate league, and a week after that, an offer from his alma mater for the head coach.

There it was: his dream job. Jojo has been praying for this moment for 20 years. However, he said no. It was obviously his dream Job, but it was not God’s dream job for Jojo. God closed all the doors in coaching so he could see the narrow that began with FCA ministry. This was His purpose for Jojo. Much sorrow went into his decision to decline his dream job, but he learned what’s truly important. Abiding in the center of God’s will beacuase it is his place of rest. God has shown him His beautiful way, and he will walk in it with all his heart.

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” -Isaiah 30:21

ABOUT FURNITURE

  • WILDE + SPIETH(brand)

Originally created in 1831, Wilde Spieth was redesigned in the late 1940s in close collaboration with designer Egon Eyerman. Today, the modern and classic design is beloved by architects and design enthusiasts alike, and remains unique and of the highest quality.

  • SE68 SU

Instantly recognizable by its distinctive silhouette, Egon Eiermann's SE 68 multipurpose chair continues to quietly claim its status as a mid-century icon. A tubular steel frame complements an organically shaped molded wood seat and back - the SE 68 was the first chair in Germany to combine these materials. Giving furniture a "human dimension" was Eiermann's goal, and as anyone who has experienced the chair's ergonomic comfort can attest, no one achieved this goal as elegantly as the prescient architect himself. SE 68 can be customized with upholstery and armrests.

    Design: Egon Eiermann, 1951
